No TiVo worth talking about, though I am enjoying the beginning of the Sarah Connor Chronicles, a lot.
Is it writer's strike desperation, or is this show really good? Can't tell yet, but the cast is superb, especially Lena Headey, of 300, who is gorgeous, serious, and completely at one with this role--mother of the boy who saves the human race. (Or something.) Not a Boomer, she's a Brit born in 1973. But who cares? Anyway, this show seems to have banned Boomers--they're not even here to play the bad guys.
Then, there's Brothers & Sisters, back on the air, and more treacly than ever. After five minutes of watching Calista Flockhart's whiny aggressiveness, I just want to strangle her. And if she can't tell her new and too-handsome husband doesn't want to have a baby right now -- while he's running for, uh, PRESIDENT -- then she is simply blind, or an idiot, or both.
But will somebody please tell these writers, after the strike is over, of course, that a fictional Presidential race, even one starring the yummy-licious Rob Lowe, is just no match for the real live Presidential race we've got goin' on right now. If we were stuck with George for another two or three years, then we'd be desperate for a cutie-pie President like this one, even a Republican, but sorry. George is nearly gone, and we've got some very interesting choices, for a change.
I feel obliged to watch this show, because so many of the stars are Boomers, and we need to support
each other. At least I think we do.... But still, my patience is limited. Also, my theory is that the writers of this show went on strike before the strike was actually called. My evidence? This line, spoken by Nora Walker, the matriach, played by perky Boomer-ette Sally Field, to her new potential beau, played by leading edge Boomer (born in 1946), the almost-always-saintly Danny Glover: "Parenting is hard."
Uh, gee, ya think?
